acupuncture
Medical acupuncture is an evidence based approach to pain management in pets. It involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body. The literature on acupuncture supports its use in improving brain function, spinal cord and peripheral nerve function through neuromodulation. Acupuncture is also beneficial to a number of illnesses, such as: digestion, cardiac, and urinary disorders, among others by connecting the peripheral nervous system to the central nervous system. It is low risk and non-invasive.
electroacupuncture
An electrical impulse is connected to the acupuncture needles. It helps with providing pain relief by blocking pain signals traveling from the body to the brain. It also helps the body release its natural opioids allowing for long lasting pain relief.
Rehabilitation
Helps pets suffering from mobility issues, neurologic issues, injuries, and post surgical pets. The goal is individual for each pet. Whether it’s to maintain mobility, strengthen muscles, improve coordination or alleviate pain.
laser
Also known as photomedicine or phototherapy, is light emitted at specific wavelengths that penetrate tissue. It stimulates healing through photobiomodulation. Photomedicine triggers cellular regeneration, improves circulation and reduces inflammation all of which help with tissue repair.
PEMF Bed
Pulsing electromagnetic field therapy is a non-invasive treatment that has been in use since the 70’s to stimulate natural cellular processes. It reduces inflammation and pain, and it accelerates healing. PEMF can be used as a preventative to injury or to treat specific conditions such as:
-
Recovering from surgical procedures
-
Wound healing
-
Arthritis
-
Tendon and Ligament Injuries
-
Neurologic Injuries
-
Degenerative Joint Disease (IVDD)
-
Bone Fractures
At Little Zen Paws, we use the Respond Systems bed to administer PEMF during acupuncture. Many times PEMF can be used in place of pharmaceuticals to treat long-term, degenerative conditions.
How does it work? Cellular functions in the body are driven by differences in electric potential. By using magnetic wavelengths and frequencies similar to those naturally occurring in the body, PEMF influences the electric potential in the cells and decreases inflammation, increases circulation, reduces pain and accelerates healing.
